¡¡Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, is an important industrial, commercial
and financial city of southwest China.¡¡

in one of the country's richest agricultural plains, Chengdu plain covers 12,390sq.km.
By rail, Chengdu is 2,048 km from Beijing and slightly more than 2 hours by air
of Beijing. It can also be reached by a less than 20 hours train ride with about
250 Km of tunnels. Chengdu has direct domestic and internal flights from elsewhere
in China, Hong Kong and some neighboring countries. With an altitude of 500 meters,
it has a temperate climate and abundant rainfall in summer. The population of
Chengdu is about 9.60 million-divided among 8 districts, 4 outlyihg cities and
8 counties. About 1.4 million people reside in the city center.
